The ERECTIONS series of furniture is now being offered for sale as finished pieces and also in the form of Fabrication Kits that craftsmen, wood workers and hobbyists can build themselves. It is furniture made from five foot square sheets of 1/2" thick Baltic Birch thin-ply plywood. The concept for the furniture was conceived while designing the first piece of the series- the Side Chair. It consists of one piece of plywood and nothing else. It requires no fasteners such as screws or nuts and bolts. The parts of the chair simply fit and lock together. Other pieces in the series require additional materials such as cushions, glass and glass fasteners. Some require more than one sheet of plywood. The process of fabricating a piece is very straight-forward. Spray mount the pattern sheets to the plywood, cut them out, glue some of them together face to face, sand and finish. The time it takes to fabricate each piece, as we clock it, ranges from 12 hours for the End Table, to 36 hours for the Armchair.

The point of building and/or owning one of these pieces of furniture is not just to have something to sit on, but also to have something to admire. The pieces are sculptural lessons in structural forces. Pieces of the series have been shown and sold in several art gallery showings to date. Finished pieces are built to order; they are originals built by their designer. Fabrication Kits include the Pattern Sheets sized to the piece of plywood and a 20 page Illustration Fabricated Manual consisting of step by step instructions. The manual is signed and numbered by the architect and is a collectors piece in it's own right.
